TRANSIT
INTERPRETATION (SAMPLE):
FOR FEBRUARY THROUGH
DECEMBER 2004
by Brian Habit
Saturn
trines your Neptune from roughly September 2003 till July 2004.
Before we
bring Saturn into the picture, let’s review what your natal
Neptune symbolizes.
Neptune is
related to our consciousness, that fourth dimension of our
selves that moves on the stage that is the world. He’s that part
of us that stands apart from our identity, that observes us as
we go through the day-to-day dramas of our lives like a fly on
the wall. Neptune is a bird’s-eye view of our lives. This planet
also represents the development of an awareness of what we might
call God and the weakening of the barrier that separates our
consciousness or ego from our unconsciousness or soul. When our
consciousness penetrates the shell of our egos, we’re more
sensitive. We experience ourselves as part of a much larger
whole. We get the cosmic joke about our lives. This might happen
through vivid dreams, false beliefs, or impressions that re
receive by means other than our five basic senses. Neptune
symbolizes our idealism, intuition, imagination, and compassion.
Neptune also represents where we may be visionary…and where
we’re most vulnerable to confusing our hopes and fears with
reality. Activities such as compassionate self-sacrifice,
imaginative creative work, meditation, and religious practices
can help us develop Neptune.
Neptune
represents inspiration and imagination, idealism, and dreams.
Saturn represents solidification and structure, realism, and
practicality. Oftentimes, these two principles take us in
different directions.
For
example, we can put a lot of elbow grease into something, and
maybe it pays off, but the pay off is in ways that improve our
lives on a practical level but don’t really inspire us. That’s
more of a purely Saturnian experience.
Alternatively, we can spend a lot of time fantasizing about
dreams coming true, but that’s what they remain—dreams. They
don’t come to fruition, but they provide moments of magical
escape from life’s less pleasant realities. That’s an example of
a purely Neptunian experience.
During
this transit, however, Saturn readily supports Neptune.
Perspiration can support inspiration. You can put foundations
under your castles in the air, provided that you lay the
groundwork by approaching yourself and your circumstances
realistically and pragmatically. The purpose of this time is to
take realistic, purposeful action to give tangible form to your
dreams. That’s what Saturn is trying to teach you now.
To be a
good student, consider how you might deepen your commitment to
something that you believe in, how you might take another step
that helps you realize an important dream. For example, if
you’ve been dating someone for a while, then consider whether
it’s time to get married. If you’ve been writing a book for a
while, maybe you can get it published. If you’ve been in
training to become a religious leader, then maybe you finish
that up and become ordained. If you’ve been campaigning for
public office, maybe it’s time to see what the voters have to
say.
Saturn is
moving through your 6th house of work and other
responsibilities, triggering your Neptune, which rules your 2nd
house of money and other resources. Your Neptune lies in your
9th house of life philosophy and routine-busting experiences.
Therefore, you might apply the potential of this transit toward
some related area. For example, if your dream involves taking on
some new philosophically- or psychologically-oriented pursuit
that would help you have a deeper sense of life’s meaning,
Saturn could help you learn the techniques necessary to do that
successfully now. If you’ve wanted to get your finances in a
more organized state, then this could help you tackle the
details involved in getting from here to there.
Whatever
dream you’d like to accomplish now, plan to act in classically
Saturnian ways to do it. Plan to work hard, with dedication, to
achieve a goal. Act seriously. Put a firmer structure in place.
Show the world how steadfast you can be. Take on greater
responsibility. Perhaps you could play a supervisory role in
some inspired, ambitious endeavor.
Saturn
demands responsible behavior, so as you try to realize your
dreams, make sure that you do so without trying to take
advantage of other people. If you’re tempted to treat people
brutally and then cast them aside (for example, by exploiting
them financially), try to rein that in. Otherwise, you might
find yourself in legal trouble or other hot water.
Sometimes
people experience disappointing situations during this transit.
They find that they have to scramble to meet demanding
circumstances, such as financial obligations. If you’re feeling
sad or discouraged now, be careful not to act in a
self-destructive, escapist way. Even if it’s a spiritually
challenging time, one requiring patience and self-discipline,
you can still take satisfaction in knowing that you are keeping
the faith, keeping your dream alive while you exercise the
patience or do the work that’s necessary, until you can make it
a reality.
Be sure to
consider the realistic limits or requirements that life imposes
on you—things like health, weather, and the potential for
danger. Don’t get so caught up in accomplishing something that
you ignore the risks to which you might be exposing yourself.
For example, if the weather’s bad and you need to catch a flight
for a business trip, keep in mind that it’s better to get there
later and unharmed then to stick to your schedule and risk an
accident. If you’re feeling fatigued or physically weaker than
usual, don’t pretend that you can get away with maintaining an
ambitious level of activity. Slow down and get medical
attention, if need be, so that you don’t make your condition
worse. If you’re going to use drugs or other potentially
dangerous substances, be sure to exercise caution so that you
don’t suffer any unintended consequences.
The payoff
for acting with such self-discipline and determination could be
the fulfillment of some ideal that you cherish. By taking on
more demanding projects at work, you could realize a
professional dream. Working hard to accomplish what you want
could help you achieve a high level of success. You could be
both effective and graceful. You could showcase your style--your
ability to make the difficult look easy, like an athlete who
wins a major competition. By acting “steady at the helm,” you
could inspire others to put more faith in you. You could
accomplish a major feat and capture the public’s imagination,
like an astronaut who steps foot on the Moon.
