SYNASTRIC INTERPRETATION (SAMPLE):

FOR JOHN SMITH AND JANE DOE

by Brian Habit

ASPECTS FROM OTHER PLANETS

Jane’s Mercury conjoins your Mercury.

Communication is important in any relationship, and this aspect can help you communicate effectively with each other. It helps the two of you be on the same mental wavelength. Provided that you rein in your natural touchiness toward each other, you could make each other’s lives more interesting by exchanging perceptions of the world. You could share ideas with each other about what you’ve read, what you’ve seen, what you’ve heard, what you’ve learned, whether it came up in passing encounters with people, in the consumption of pop culture, or in serious study.

Your Jupiter opposes Jane’s Uranus.

The good news here is that the two of you could cook up some great ideas when you put your heads together. Jupiter can contribute vision and a can-do spirit, and Uranus can contribute creative outside-of-the-box thinking. However, both of these planets can be associated with acting impulsively or foolishly. With one person’s Jupiter opposite the other person’s Uranus, you two could magnify each other’s inclination to behave foolishly. To get the best out of this, sleep on whatever seem like can’t-lose ideas before you act on them. Run them by trusted friends so that you can get a more detached perspective on them.

Your Jupiter squares Jane’s Saturn.

Here we have a clash between your enthusiasm and optimism (Jupiter) and Jane’s cautiousness and sense of restraint (Saturn). You could easily feel like Jane’s cramping your style, being a wet blanket, or treating you like a child. In turn, Jane could easily feel burdened with the need to be “the wise one” or the voice of sanity when the two of you are together. If you two can keep from seeing yourselves and each other in such simplistic terms, then you could both benefit from what the other brings to the table.

Your Saturn squares Jane’s Uranus.

This aspect seems a little like the reverse of the previous one. Here it’s your Saturn and Jane’s Uranus, rather than her Saturn and your Jupiter. Therefore you could get polarized, with you playing a cautious, conservative, traditional role (Saturn) and Jane playing a reckless, innovative, unconventional role (Uranus). Again, the way out of this is to try to see yourselves and each other in more sophisticated terms, and to appreciate the potential for balance between Saturnian and Uranian principles.

Your Mercury squares Jane’s Pluto.

If two people are going to be close, then eventually they have to get beyond their defenses enough to talk honestly. In order for you and Jane to do this, you’ll need to compromise around some natural tendencies. For Jane’s part, she might be tempted to defend herself by either clamming up or trying to psychoanalyze you. For your part, you might be tempted to protect yourself by either going into verbal overdrive or talking about what you’re feeling in intellectual or rational terms, rather than expressing what you’re feeling. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to protect yourselves from each other’s scrutiny, but you’ll both need to restrain such inclinations at least somewhat if you want to talk about those things that matter the most.

Jane’s Mercury trines your Jupiter.

What with the tension that we’ve seen elsewhere around communicating, it’s helpful to have this Mercury-Jupiter connection. Jupiter is associated with humor, a philosophical perspective, and a sense that the sun will come out tomorrow; and your Jupiter trine Jane’s Mercury can help keep matters from seeming too dire or hopeless. Jane could help you make your dreams a reality by getting your mental wheels turning--asking you helpful questions or providing you with helpful information, and you could help her believe in her mental or intellectual abilities when she’s tempted to doubt them.

Your Saturn trines Jane’s Neptune.

This Saturn-Neptune connection indicates some potential to combine vision (Neptune) and practicality (Saturn) effectively. You could bring needed practicality to the table, while Jane could bring needed vision, and you could support each other in making use of them. For example, you could help Jane turn her inspirations and idealism into something tangible by helping her set up structured situations in which to manifest them. And Jane could help you aim higher with your practicality, to use your organizational abilities to achieve spiritual or idealistic ends.

Your Saturn sextiles Jane’s Pluto.

Both Saturn and Pluto are hard-driving. They’re tough as nails, willing to go through a lot in order to accomplish a long-term goal. With Jane’s Pluto and your Saturn stimulating each other, you two could have a lot of stamina and determination by joining forces with each other. This aspect helps the two of you hang in there in the face of adversity, to maintain a commitment together even as you look squarely at some of life’s starkest realities. To keep from squaring off against each other, look for some sort of ambitious, demanding project that you could both put your energy into, such as a political cause or community renewal effort.
