Horaries

What Is a Horary?

In horary astrology, an astrological chart is created for when the question was “born.” By this method, I look at a chart for the “birth” of your question, based on when and where I first read and understand it.

What You Can Expect from Horary

In almost all of the astrological work that I do, I emphasize the effect that your choices could have on the outcome in a situation. However, horary is not like this. When I do a horary, I will tell you one of only a several possible answers to your question:

-Yes.

-No.

-You have asked the question too early. It has not fully formed in your mind yet.

-Not much can be expected to happen. Nothing much will come of the question.

-You have already made a decision, or the question has already been answered.

-Circumstances will have to change before an answer is available.

Because horary often produces an absolute "yes" or "no" answer, I recommend that, if you are going to use it to predict an outcome, you do so only if the question concerns a matter that you consider to be "out of your hands." In others words, I recommend that you ask for a prediction using horary only if you view yourself as no longer being in a position to take any action that might influence the outcome of the matter.

For example, if you are applying for a new job, and you want to know whether you will be offered it, I recommend that you ask for a horary only when you are awaiting final action from someone else (such as after your final interview).

If you are not open to the possibility of receiving either a "yes" or "no" answer to your question, then I recommend that you not order a horary.

While horary produces a very specific answer, I cannot guarantee that any prediction that I make using horary  will prove to be correct. Every astrologer makes mistakes using horary some of the time. However, an astrologer who uses horary correctly should predict questions correctly more than 50% of the time.

If you would like a brief explanation of how and why I arrive at the conclusion that I draw using horary, please let me know, and I will provide it.

When to Use Horary, and When NOT to Use It

In order to use horary wisely, your question should be one that you have asked sincerely, based on a need to know the answer, rather than one that you have asked insincerely or to satisfy idle curiosity.

Ideally, you should ask your question immediately after it first becomes fully formed in your mind, rather than asking it hours or days afterwards. However, if you have thought about the question for some time before asking it, horary may still be helpful.

Horary can be used to decide whether to take a specific action. If you have already decided to take a specific action, and you want to choose when to act, then horary would not be appropriate. In that case, an electional would instead be appropriate.

Horary can be used to answer most (but not all) questions about the outcome of a matter.

Horary can be used to answer most specific questions, such as "Will Bob get the job for which he interviewed?" or "Will I receive a raise between now and April 30?" However, horary is NOT appropriate for answering some specific questions, such as "Will I ever marry?", "When will my grandmother die?", or "When will the war end?"

If you want to know about issues and potentials regarding a general subject, then a horary would NOT be appropriate. In that case, a birth chart interpretation, a transit interpretation or a synastric interpretation would instead be appropriate.

Horary can be used to find lost items or missing persons.

What I Would Need in Order to Do a Horary

If you want me to answer a question using horary, I will want to know what leads you to ask the question. Sometimes, once I learn what prompts a question, I conclude that it would be inappropriate to use horary to answer the question and, instead, I discuss other ways in which I might assist you.

Depending on the specific nature of your question, I may also ask for additional information so that I can interpret the horary chart properly. For example, if you ask about a possible job, I will want to know whether you are currently unemployed or employed in another job.

If you ask a horary question, please use the following guidelines to decide how to phrase your question:

  1. State your question as precisely as possible, and choose your words carefully so that they reflect the question that you truly want answered. Horary is very literal. It will answer the question that you asked, word for word as you asked it, not as you intended to ask it.

  2. Questions about when something will happen are very difficult to answer using horary. If you want to know the answer to such a question, then phrase it in such a way that it can be answered "yes" or "no." For example, ask, “Will the Acme Company obtain the building permit from the city by X date?” rather than "When will the Acme Company obtain the building permit from the city?"

  3. Questions that ask for a choice between two possibilities are very difficult to answer using horary. I may be able to answer such an "either-or" question correctly. However, I recommend that you instead phrase the question in such a way that it could be answered "yes" or "no."

How Soon Can You Get a Horary?

I can probably get it to within four calendar days of receiving payment for your order. I may even be able to get it to you on the same day that I receive payment.

To find out exactly when you can expect to receive your horary, please email me at proudphoenix@pobox.com.
