HOW TO USE A PROUD PHOENIX
CHAT ROOM / TROUBLESHOOTING
To send a message, point and click your mouse in the short, wide white box
toward the bottom of the screen.
Type a sentence or two. Then press the “Enter” key on your keyboard, or
point and click your mouse on the “chat” button toward the bottom of the
screen.
To save time in
sending messages, you might want to do this sometimes: Type them into a
text file elsewhere first, and then copy and paste bits of it into the text
box on the chat screen. This can be a boon for those of us who don’t type
very quickly!
Oftentimes, when there has been no activity on a person’s screen or keyboard
for a certain length of time, she or he is automatically logged off from a
chat. (I
believe the exact length of time depends on a person’s connection settings,
as defined by her or his Internet service provider.)
If anyone in a chat receives such a “time-out” message, please exercise
patience.
Allow yourself time to reconnect. Allow the other person time to do the same
and respond again to you.
